As the hunt for promotions and first prizes becomes the rule, a survey by theUFC-Que choosing reveals that these products are not necessarily less good or of lower quality than branded products. That may even be the opposite.
Can less expensive products, with sleek packaging and very attractive prices, be worth their brand equivalents? “I was surprised that no, between certain brands and sub-brands there is no difference“, says a young woman. “With a brand, we also sometimes have the idea that it will be of better quality when in fact not at all”says another. The magazine “Que Choisir” conducted the investigation. First price products would be similar or better in some cases. Sometimes the recipes are even identical.
“The extreme example is going to be lasagna. They come from the same factory (…). They are rather decent lasagna so you might as well pay for them twice as much”, explains Elsa Abdounjournalist at theUFC-Que Choose”. But how to choose once on the shelves? Observation is the key according to an expert. According to him, he should “compare the list of ingredients because in general, when prices are too low, it means that there is a wolf and you just have to find this wolf. And the second thing that we can advise, it’s a bit of common sense, is to simply look at the length of the list of ingredients“, believes Olivier Dauversretail specialist. For the taste, everyone has their own opinion.
