Québec solidaire is united with the Parti Québécois: its 11 elected officials will not take the oath to King Charles III. While their swearing-in is scheduled for Wednesday, they will not have to bear allegiance to the British crown, but only to the people of Quebec, explains the solidarity co-spokesperson, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, in an interview with The duty. This agreement with the National Assembly is however temporary, and the elected representatives will have to find a common agreement with the other parties.
During this week of ferment in parliament, the Centrale des unions du Québec (CSQ) took the opportunity on Wednesday to announce the expectations of its members towards the new government. The CSQ, which mainly represents education personnel, is holding its general council in Saint-Hyacinthe until October 21.
