The event occurred Sunday morning, around 5:10 a.m., in front of a room located on boulevard Maisonneuve Ouest. Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were called to intervene at this location for an altercation between several people on the sidewalk.

They allegedly then tried to arrest a 25-year-old man, but he resisted arrest, forcing the police to use force to subdue him.

It was then that the man allegedly fell to the ground and hit his head. He then allegedly lost consciousness momentarily.

Transported to hospital, he was in stable condition, said the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI), in a press release issued Sunday morning.

Five BEI investigators were tasked with investigating the circumstances of the event.

The police force asks anyone who witnessed this event to contact them via their website.
