A young woman was taken into custody on Thursday October 13 after the discovery of the body of her 7-year-old son in La Seyne-sur-Mer (Var), according to information from France Bleu Provence. The body was found in the family apartment on Wednesday evening. It was the 30-year-old mother who called the emergency services.
The presence of multiple bruises all over the child’s body ruled out the accidental hypothesis. An autopsy is to be performed very soon to determine the cause of death. An investigation for “intentional homicide on a minor under 15 years old” has been opened. She was entrusted to the departmental security of Toulon. According to the Toulon Public Prosecutor’s Office, “the facts are consecutive to voluntary acts”.
According to information collected by France Bleu Provence, the first elements of the investigation made it possible to move towards the mother of the young child. The young woman, who is currently pregnant, is described by a source familiar with the matter as “having some social difficulties” but which was not, until then, known to the police.
