Nicolas Garcia the mayor of Elne denounces the galloping inflation of the cost of energy

Nicolas Garcia the mayor of Elne is angry: according to his calculations, the energy bill of his town could reach 1.15 million euros next year, an increase of 700,000 euros! An equation that would be impossible to hold for his municipality. The city councilor therefore threatens not to pay the bills and calls for state aid.

For Nicolas Garcia, energy should be managed as a public service with regulated tariffs for local authorities and a real match between the production price and the sale price, in order to avoid the consequences of the excesses of market speculation.

A public meeting on this municipal energy file will be held this Friday, October 14 at 6 p.m. in the village hall of Elne.
