The Parisian stay is over. I will return in 48 hours to CAQ land to absorb the shock of an election that takes us away from our emancipation.
Several analysts consider that none of the opposition parties was fit to govern, some go so far as to say that they will not be fit in four years.
They are not wrong, because it is less and less political convictions that arouse the candidacies of people of values, but much more the aspirations of being in power and of becoming a minister.
Governments fight for themselves, asserted Louise Harel. Sooner or later, it will happen for the CAQ and it will be the opposition party most likely to enter the circle of power that will attract the stars.
QP 76
Nothing announced the election of the Parti Québécois in 1976. Even René Lévesque seemed surprised on the evening of November 15, 1976 by proclaiming that we were something other than a small people.
Gone are the days of water carriers. More and more Quebecers wanted to assume their destiny without it having seemed obvious before the election.
However, that did not prevent René Lévesque and the Parti Québécois from bringing together candidates of exceptional worth that formed the best Council of Ministers for Quebec in the twentieth century.
We had to be ready when the Liberals fell and Lévesque was. He had not neglected the work upstream.
Here and now
It is said that St-Pierre Plamondon resuscitated the Parti Québécois. I would rather say that he improved his chances of survival. A real pilgrim’s work awaits him over the next few years.
Rejuvenate the party, unearth prestigious candidates ready to take the leap when the time comes, take advantage of every opportunity to highlight its formation.
And above all, show integrity as he did during the election campaign.
No more PQ wavering!
