The National Assembly adopted at first reading, Tuesday, October 11, the bill initiating a new reform of unemployment insurance, with 303 votes against 249 and 11 abstentions. LR deputies supported the text.
The text, which must now be examined in the Senate from October 25, aims to allow the government of modulate unemployment insurance according to the situation on the labor market. It thus offers the possibility of lowering unemployment benefits when employment improves and increasing them when the unemployment rate is high.
Article 1 of the text also aims to extend the current operation of unemployment insurance, resulting from the previous reform which came into force on December 1, 2021. Indeed, these rules were initially to end on November 1.
