There have been cases of salmonellosis in schools in Sorbiers and Roanne

A week after the alerts of several parents, who evoked cases of vomiting and diarrhea in their children, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional health agency confirms that these are indeed cases of salmonellosis.

Five schools concerned

In detail, 16 cases were confirmed biologically by analyzes, mainly children attending Benoît Lauras kindergarten in Sorbiers and the Mâtel de Roanne school group. In these two establishments, about sixty children had symptoms, based on responses to questionnaires sent to parents.

But there have also been confirmed cases in the Hubert Reeves and Val Joly schools in Sorbiers and at the Mayollet school group in Roanne. The ARS specifies that analyzes are underway to identify other cases of salmonellosis. It is also awaiting analyzes of food samples, to try to identify the origin of this contamination.

A total of four children were hospitalized last week, but they have all returned home.
