A new label for the village of Sancerre in the Cher. A little over a year after being elected “Favorite Village of the French” in the eponymous program by Stéphane Bern, the Quality Commission of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”, in charge of the national classification, validated its candidacy on Saturday October 30 . A new distinction which should add an additional spotlight on the medieval village.
Sancerre becomes the fourth Berry village to obtain this label, after Apremont-sur-Allier in Cher, and Saint-Benoît-du-Sault and Gargilesse-Dampierre in Indre. In total, 172 towns are classified as “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, including nine in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region.
