Hummel and Denmark take a stand. The equipment manufacturer officially explained the choices of the three Danish jerseys for the World Cup, Wednesday September 28, which will mark the spirits. Hummel and the selection indeed wanted to protest against the non-respect of human rights and the deaths on construction sites in the host country. “We believe that sport should bring people together. When this is not the case, we want to take a stand”says the equipment manufacturer on his Instagram account.

Kasper Hjulmand’s men will notably wear a third black jersey, “the color of mourning”. “It’s the perfect color for the World Cup this year”justifies the mark. “We support the Danish team, but this should not be taken as support for a tournament which has cost the lives of thousands of people. We want to recall the human rights situation in Qatar and the treatment of migrant workers who built the World Cup stadiums in the country.” The Danes have already worn this shirt during their match against Croatia on September 22.

The home jersey, red, and away, white, will also have special characteristics. The Hummel logo, its chevrons and the crest of the selection will be there “attenuated”almost erased. “We do not want to be visible during a tournament that has cost the lives of thousands of people”repeats the equipment manufacturer.
