(Montreal) The federal government has just revised upwards the salary increases it offers to federal civil servants, within the framework of negotiations for the renewal of their collective agreements.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada, of which 120,000 members are concerned, indicated that the government had tabled new offers, namely a 1.5% increase in the first year, 3% in the second, 2% in third and 1.75% in the fourth year.
The initial offers, tabled last spring, were lower, at 1.5%, 2%, 1.75% and 1.5%.
In a note to its members, the largest union of federal civil servants describes this new offer as “unserious” and which “shows a flagrant lack of respect for public servants”.
Mediation sessions have already been held, others are planned throughout the month of October.
The PSAC advises its members to be ready to intensify their actions, if necessary. Demonstrations have already been held in recent months in several cities across the country.
