As a teacher and the father of two young girls attending the Baril school, I have been waiting for several months for the miraculous arrival of the vaccine for elementary school students, which will allow us to hope for a return to normal life.
Since the start of the school year, the vast majority of cases in our schools have not affected high school students (overwhelmingly vaccinated), but our youngest who, despite the mask in class, are victims of pandemic. To hope to see our classes stop closing and go virtual, the ultimate effort is before us: school vaccination.
By wishing that the vaccination of pupils does not take place in schools, I wonder if Mr.me Paul consulted the actors on the ground. I can understand that the principals have worked very hard for 18 months (and I thank them for that), but we should not forget my fellow teachers who have allowed our children to continue attending school. From pedagogue, they went on to experts in Teams, to anti-COVID-19 health worker and so on. This with the ultimate goal of helping the school system to function. For all the efforts invested since the start of the pandemic, I believe that the hope of finally ensuring greater security for all is the logical next step.
By integrating vaccination into our schools, we will make the vaccine accessible to all families.
This additional protection will not only be for our children, but for all the adults who make our schools what they are: an environment of education and socialization essential to the development of our students.
Mme Paul, I think I am not mistaken in saying that the school community is prepared to go the extra mile to try and put the past few months behind us. The vaccination offer must go through schools. Otherwise, the return to happier days may be delayed. Random vaccination over several weeks, if not months, will allow the virus to continue to spread and see all of our efforts called into question. The virus is progressing rapidly, we have to go the extra mile to try and end it all.
