After the death of a 22-year-old woman, arrested for not having worn her veil correctly, the images of women throwing their veils and demonstrating across the country spread on the Internet, Friday September 23. The power of Tehran organizes the censorship of social networks in order to put an end to it.

Thousands of demonstrators were present last night, Thursday September 22, in the streets of Tehran. Men and women came together to challenge the regime. “We are not afraid, we are all united”chanted the crowd. In several cities of the country, scenes of clashes broke out and left 17 dead according to the authorities. They would be more than 50 according to the NGOs.

The demonstrators no longer hesitate to respond to the police at the risk of heavy reprisals. This revolt comes after the death of Marsha, 22, arrested for not having worn her veil correctly. The young woman died after going to the police station. The anger does not subside. “What is unprecedented is that I see in the small towns of the country the women who demonstrate without veils and who advocate their veils because it is a symbol, a constraint of oppression of women since the revolution”says a resident of Tehran. The Iranian president has opened an investigation to calm things down.
