MONTREAL | The day after the second and final debate of the election campaign, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois hardened his tone towards François Legault, whom he accuses of lying and misinformation about the Québec solidaire plan.

“He spends his election campaign crying against Québec solidaire and misinforming Quebecers against the Québec solidaire plan. (…) Me, I do not intend to let myself be done”, warned Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, returning to the exchanges he had during the debate with the one he designates as his main adversary.
In one of his most heated exchanges with his left-wing rival, François Legault hinted that Quebec solidaire’s discourse of decline could lead to business closures.
Unworthy remarks
“I think Quebecers have the right to know: which businesses you want to close, in which region,” raised the CAQ leader on Thursday evening, directly questioning Mr. Nadeau-Dubois.
“When Mr. Legault says that we are going to close industries, he is lying to Quebecers and that is unworthy for someone who wants to run for the post of Prime Minister,” said Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, by answering questions from journalists on Friday morning.
“There is no question of closing any business, he assured. What François Legault does is tell stories of fear. François Legault is Monsieur Impossible, Monsieur we are not capable.”
GND the magician?
The co-spokesperson also defended himself from trying to do “magic” as the CAQ leader hammered during the debate.
“Let’s talk about magic,” replied Mr. Nadeau-Dubois. The only political party that has not worked magic in its financial framework is Quebec solidaire.
“And that’s not my opinion, it’s the latest report from the Chair of Taxation at the University of Sherbrooke, which showed that all the other political parties have played tricks on their executives. financial. The only political party that has not done a magic trick in its financial framework is Quebec solidaire,” he argued.
Climatic changes
If the environment was one of the first themes discussed during the debate on Thursday evening, none spoke of adaptation to climate change, observed Mr. Nadeau-Dubois.
However, after the torrential rains that hit the greater Montreal area last week, Hurricane Fiona is now heading towards Quebec, recalled the left-wing leader.
“What it reminds us of and it is a brutal reminder: it is that climate change has begun, that we will have to adapt to climate change,” he said.
During a speech before the Quebec Federation of Municipalities, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois pledged to release an annual and recurring emergency envelope of $45 million to help municipalities adapt their infrastructure to climate change.
“Climate change is not the future, we have both feet in it,” he reminded the mayors, prefects and elected officials of several municipalities and MRCs of Quebec gathered in Montreal.
