Discovering the Lac de Saint-Cyr with the League for the Protection of Birds

Located in the town of Beaumont Saint-Cyr, the ornithological reserve welcomes more than 10,000 visitors each year curious to discover the very rich fauna and flora. The Lac de Saint-Cyr reserve is the tenth reserve in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the first in Vienne. The ornithological reserve opens its doors to you: thanks to the 5 observatories and the guided tours offered by volunteers from the Poitou-Charentes Bird Protection League (LPO). By going to Lac de Saint-Cyr, you can discover the birds that live together on the site throughout the year, but also those that stop there during their migratory ballet.

You will discover by going to the site of the ornithological reserve an area of ​​more than 40 hectares. In this reserve, proof that it is a true cradle of nature for fauna and flora, there are some rare species: 213 species of birds, 32 species of dragonflies, 7 species of amphibians, 277 varieties for plants vascular areas and 11 natural habitats are listed there.

If you too wish to discover the reserve and do not miss any species present on the site, a guided tour is organized on Sunday September 25, 2022 as part of the 48 hours of nature. To do this, meet at 9:00 a.m. at the entrance to the Reserve. For your information, on September 24 and 25, workshops, observations and events will also be organized throughout the two days.
