The federal government has just adopted an emergency decree to protect an endangered species in Quebec. This is the second time in five years that such action has been taken for the Chorus Frog, a tiny frog once again threatened by a development project.
The decree came into force on Monday and covers the area where work for the expansion of a boulevard in Longueuil threatened the species’ critical habitat. The now protected area covers approximately 20 hectares in the Saint-Hubert borough.
More details to come.
