Another day of trouble for users of RER B and D. Traffic has been disrupted since Tuesday morning on these two lines due to a signaling failure. Train delays and cancellations will continue throughout Wednesday, including “during the evening peak”, warns the SNCF. “All trains on lines B and D cannot travel on a single track at Gare du Nord in the North to South direction”.
At the origin of these disturbances, a signaling failure that occurred on Tuesday morning. Tuesday evening, the technical teams were still “under investigation” to identify the problem. It is now done this Wednesday and the SNCF specifies that a “Intervention requiring 4 hours of traffic interruption at Paris Gare du Nord will take place overnight from Wednesday to Thursday”. Service should be back to normal Thursday morning.
Travelers associations deplore the slowness of repairs. “RATP and SNCF announce that the origin of the breakdown has still not been found and that we must expect disruptions again tomorrow on #RERB #RERD. This is the level of service on 2 lines which together transport 1.5 million users every day”, indignantly the Plus de Trains association on Twitter.
