Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit on Sunday.
Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Briton George Russell (Mercedes) complete the podium.
Aston Martin rescued Lance Stroll from his ordeal at 40e lap, ending his race due to what appears to be an overheated brake issue.
The very fast Monza circuit did not suit the AMR22, which prefers winding tracks. Thus, Stroll, who took the start of the 12e position due to penalties after qualifying 18th, was riding in 17e and penultimate place at the time of his retirement.
His teammate Sebastian Vettel, who started just ahead of him, quickly found himself behind Stroll on the first lap. However, he too retired due to an Energy Recovery System (ERS) failure.
Stroll has never been able to get close enough to a competitor to attempt any overtaking maneuver in this race. He had to defend himself throughout the ordeal.
F1 will now take a three-week break before returning to action at the Singapore GP.
