TOP 14 (J2) – Historic victory for CA Brive in Perpignan (17-6)

The goal was to win. It’s done and pocketing more offensive bonus. Brive won their match against Perpignan 17-6. Victory first came in the first half with the first try of the match scored in the 18th minute. After a penalty tapped against Thomas Laranjeira’s post, the ball fell on Brive players who slid the ball and scored the first try through Joris Jurand. The Perpignanese regain the advantage thanks to the foot of Tristan Tedder but it is Brive who will finally register a second try through the intermediary of the young second line Renger Van Eerten, returned in place of Lucas Paulos, sounded during a clash with a Catalan.

Leading 12-6 at halftime, the CAB did not give up and remained heroic in their defense. Thus, for 40 minutes, the Catalans push but do not manage to give in to the Brivistes, who also have the gods with them. Like in the 78th minute when Enzo Sanga, on an outing in the Brive in-goal, almost ruined everything. But referee Luc Ramos refuses the try. On a defensive touch captured by Brive, the CAB will register by Enzo Sanga the last try of the match, that of the offensive bonus.

Thomas Laranjeira: “You have to take advantage of these moments”

Captain Thomas Laranjeira was satisfied. “This bonus point that we will get at the end, it shows the team’s state of mind. We win with a great state of mind, especially in defense. Defensively, we didn’t give up. It reflects everything we get out of the prep. It’s great, it gets us back into the championship and it takes a little pressure off us. It’s always nice to start the week with a victory so we’re going to enjoy tonight.”

The Brivists will nevertheless quickly have the opportunity to get back into the swing of things with the reception of the French champion Montpellier next week (5 p.m., Stadium).
