This proposal is part of the “Revolution transport” project that the spokesperson for Québec solidaire (QS), Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, unveiled this week for Montreal and its crowns.

Central element of a plan that would require investments of 47 billion by 2030, the purple line would serve Rivière-des-Prairies, Montreal North, Rosemont and the Plateau Mont-Royal.

“Saint-François has been neglected for too long by the governments of the past 30 years while the Laval population continues to grow,” commented Guillaume Lajoie, solidarity candidate in Mille-Îles. We want to connect people in this neighborhood and bring them into our transport revolution with our new metro line. »

For Laval, the plan also provides for a new station in the extension of the orange line from Côte-Vertu, two axes of rapid service by bus (SRB) on the boulevards of Laurentides and Saint-Martin and the addition of reserved lanes for buses on the highways crossing the territory, including Highway 25.

“The era when all public transport in Laval was heading towards our only three metro stations in Laval is over,” added Josée Chevalier, candidate for QS in Laval-des-Rapides, in the same press release. Our ambitious plan will allow the people of Laval to be able to move more quickly throughout the city and to go to Montreal by several strategic accesses elsewhere on the island of Laval”.

In addition to the new metro line, the “Transport Revolution for Greater Montreal” includes the extension of two existing lines (green and orange), an 80-kilometre tramway network, the deployment of SRB over 100 kilometres, the addition of a connection between the REM and the Dorval train station as well as numerous reserved lanes for buses.

“We are proposing an ambitious plan to allow the four million people who live in the greater Montreal metropolitan area to travel from Vaudreuil to Beloeil, from Repentigny to Candiac and from Saint-Jérôme to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, declared Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois. It’s time to change eras, it’s time to give people in the Montreal area green and practical transportation options”.

During the press briefing held in Montreal, outgoing MP and candidate for Mercier, Ruba Ghazal, affirmed that a united government would work together with the Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM), Municipalities, citizens and experts. in order to prioritize and build the best possible projects.
