First, the police were alerted to a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of a private residence on Eudore-Dubeau Avenue, near Joliot-Curie Avenue, in Rivière-des-Prairies.

Firefighters dispatched to the scene were able to control the fire, but heavy damage was found on the vehicle, according to SPVM spokesperson Mariane Allaire Morin, adding that no one was injured.

Around 12:20 a.m., calls to the police reported another vehicle fire at the intersection of rue Cabrini and boulevard Lacordaire, in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

The fire is considered to be criminal since at least one suspect was seen fleeing the scene, according to the SPVM, which specifies that no one was injured, but the vehicle is a total loss, while another vehicle was damaged by flames.

The Montreal police, which does not exclude the possibility that the two fires are connected, indicates that its investigators had to travel to the scene to analyze the two scenes and try to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the two events.
