According to initial information from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the 27-year-old man had an argument with another person. It was following this conflict that the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim in the upper body with a bladed weapon.

The suspect fled the scene after the altercation, while the injured man was transported to a hospital. The SPVM could not, in the early morning, provide an update on his state of health. However, the victim was conscious when the police arrived.

The scene has been protected to allow investigators to shed light on this incident.

The SPVM specified that the victim was known to its investigators.

Police work continues to locate the suspect in this case.
