South Korea may conduct a poll to determine if top K-pop stars BTS could be exempted from mandatory military service.

The compulsory military service of the seven members of the group is the subject of a great debate in the country since the oldest of them, Jin, is expected to enlist in December when he will be 30 years old.
Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup says he is exploring the possibility of conducting a survey on the issue. Other factors, including BTS’s economic importance and national interest, will be considered, according to the minister.
