The Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne hospital has had a stand in the festival village since Friday August 26, to do some prevention, but above all to recruit staff.
“Attracting our youth”
They are half a dozen hospital employees to hold their stand. Hat on the head and t-shirt in the colors of the hospital center, its director Éric-Alban Giroux wants make young people want to come and work in the South of Mayenne. “When you turn on the TV, you hear that the hospital is not well, that it’s hell to work. Basically: ‘Don’t come and work with us.’ And I say the exact opposite. We must attract our young people to our professions. Exactly the opposite. Caregivers have a job that is a noble job, with real meaning.“
The hospital is looking for nursing assistants, nurses, specialized doctors : “We rake wide“, replies the director. However, the establishment is doing rather well and does not lack immediate caregivers. The key is anticipation replies Éric-Alban Giroux. “Staying in a good dynamic obviously means having the possibility of replacing so as never to fall into a phenomenon of shortage. We avoid the vicious circle by always remaining mobilized.“
“It intrigues”
Maeva stops talking for a moment. She is a nursing student at the school of Mayenne and in five minutes, she has plenty of information to find an internship at the start of the school year. “This is the first time I see a hospital stand on a festival so it intrigues“, is surprised for her part Justine, also a nurse. The young woman comes from Loir-et-Cher especially for the festival, but talking with the staff of the Haut Anjou hospital center gives her ideas. “I came to see what it was because I do not know the establishment, so to see.“The hospital is holding its stand until 6 p.m. on Sunday August 28.
