Negotiations were still continuing, Friday afternoon, between Quebec and the unions representing workers in childcare centers, while a strike is scheduled for Monday in several establishments.
The Federation of Early Childhood Workers of Quebec, affiliated with the CSQ, the Federation of Health and Social Services, affiliated with the CSN, and the Quebec Union of Service Employees, affiliated with the FTQ, have all announced a strike. of their members, next week, failing an agreement.
The unions of the FIPEQ-CSQ would be affected by the strike from Monday to Wednesday; those of the FSSS-CSN from Monday to Thursday; those of the SQEES-FTQ from Tuesday to Thursday, next week.
However, the three organizations have been engaged in a period of intensive negotiation with government representatives a few days ago, in the hope of reaching an agreement on the renewal of collective agreements.
The dispute mainly concerns the salary, not only that of the educators, but also that of the other workers in the early childhood centers who support the educators. These are specialized educators, administrative, kitchen and maintenance workers.
Support for children with special needs is also at stake in the negotiation.
