In return, Montreal is sending $325,000 in general allocation money in 2023. Chicago will also receive an additional $275,000 conditional on player performance.

Offor is a 22-year-old Nigerian. He is under contract until 2023, with an option for 2024. In 3 seasons in the Fire organization, the striker has played 41 games, including 14 starts. He scored two goals plus two assists.

“This is an opportunity that arose just before the end of the transfer window,” acknowledged sporting director and vice-president of the club Olivier Renard, in a press release.

“I already knew him from his time in Europe and the situation in Chicago allowed us to acquire him now for the future,” he adds. He is a young player who is big and powerful, so an excellent profile for MLS and a long-term project for us. The Fire had invested more money in him and the opportunity was very interesting for us.

Renard indicates that “this opportunity for the future does not mean that there will be departures even if the window is still open for players who leave”.

In the Montreal offensive board, there are already Romell Quioto, Mason Toye, Kei Kamara, Sunusi Ibrahim, Jojea Kwizera and Bjorn Johnsen.

Ibrahim hasn’t been on the pitch since late May and is uninjured. Jojea Kwizera, drafted in January, is a project for the future. Bjorn Johnsen, acquired at great expense, did not achieve the expected performance last year, and has not yet played this season, injured.

Chinonso Offor would therefore settle around Ibrahim and Kwizera in this field.
