There are three stages left in this women’s Tour de France which ends this Sunday, July 31. And despite the crashes and dropouts that punctuate this first edition, it’s already a victory: the runners are gaining in popularity day by day, and there are many supporters along the roads.

After the men’s Tour de France, the public is still there for the ladies, and that’s “a pleasant surprise” for Marie Le Net, one of the French runners. “They are there, by the side of the road, encouraging us. There are people at the start or the finish. It’s really extraordinary to live that. It’s really only on the Tour that we can experience it“, rejoices the Breton.

In the smallest coast, there are people, which Norman Gladys savors Verhulst: “It’s really something grand, you feel like you’re growing wings“. She is especially delighted to hear “Go French!“. A craze which is only a foretaste of what the runners will experience this weekend in the mountains. The Girondine India Grangier is more used to being behind the barriers: “QWhen I go to see the Tour, it’s me who has the yellow flags or the polka dot jerseys and who slips on the road, whereas there, it’s me who’s going to ride. It’s going to be awesome !“.
The rendezvous has already been taken in the Ballons d’Alsace for a final stage on the famous Super Planche des Belles Filles, in the Vosges mountains.
