The drought strongly affects France in the middle of the summer season. Many departments are on alert. Anne-Claire The Sann was on the 19/20 set, Friday July 22, to take stock of a worrying situation.
France is in the grip of a wave of drought which worries the authorities. The lack of water is felt and shortages could even occur. “Already 84 departments out of 96 in France are concerned. In 50 of them, water use restrictions are imposed for agriculture, watering gardens or swimming pools. 34 departments are banned (…) for example Puy-de-Dôme, Sarthe or Vendée”first explains journalist Anne-Claire Le Sann, Friday July 22.
This dry spell is not just a result of the heat. One liter out of 5 would simply be lost in nature and thus unused. “Other cause: landscape concreting. Rainwater no longer penetrates the soil and therefore does not fill the water tables”explains the journalist. To avoid consuming too much water, Anne-Claire Le Sann recommends to “pmake showers rather than baths, don’t let the tap run”. She also recommends recycling water and giving it “a second life”.
