During cross-examination of the alleged victim in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on Tuesday, attorney Brock Martland released a video of Virtanen vomiting into a bowl.

“Do you think he urinated on himself that night in addition to vomiting?” “, he questioned.

“Yeah,” she said, adding that Virtanen’s friends told her he looked like he peed in his pants.

The 23-year-old woman, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, told court Monday that Virtanen sexually assaulted her in a Vancouver hotel room in September 2017.

Virtanen, 25, was charged with sexual assault in January following an investigation by the Vancouver Police Department.

Court heard Virtanen met his alleged victim at a bar during the 2017 Calgary Stampede.

The alleged victim did not report the wrongdoing to police in September 2017, and she spoke publicly about the incident for the first time in April 2021 in an Instagram post aimed at victims of sexual assault.

She then shared her side of the story with a Glacier Media reporter, contacted the police, and then filed a civil lawsuit against Virtanen.

The Canucks suspended Virtanen in May 2021, after the allegations became public. They then bought out his contract a month later.

Virtanen then played for Spartak Moscow in the KHL.
