The law on purchasing power is eagerly awaited by the French. It is currently under discussion in the National Assembly. Several shock measures are expected, as explained by Thierry Curtet, in duplex of the Palais Bourbon.
The decline in purchasing power is the major problem currently affecting the French. Inflation, which is close to 6%, is the cause of soaring prices, whether for food or energy. Thierry Curtet affirms that concerning energy “the government proposes to extend the rebate of 18 cents on the liter of diesel.” However, this solution is temporary and degressive, because it will increase to 12 cents then to 6 but then, on December 1, “this discount will be replaced by a bonus for employees who use their car, from 100 to 300 euros. Please note, there, it will be means-tested”then specifies the journalist.
Gasoline prices are not the only ones that will be impacted by the desired law on purchasing power since concerning electricity and gas “the tariff shield (…) will be maintained”, reports Thierry Curtet. The salaries of civil servants, as well as pensions and social minima will also experience an increase. However, all these measures will only be possible if the deputies are in favor of them, but the government does not have an absolute majority in the National Assembly.
