According to Pierre LeBrun, of the TSN network, the Calgary Flames forward would have chosen to become free as the air before the opening of said market on Wednesday.

Frank Seravalli, of DailyFaceoff, goes even a little further: Gaudreau would have “informed Calgary that he will not be back”, he wrote on Twitter.

“It was an emotional conversation for both sides, according to the journalist. The Flames had rolled out the red carpet to try to keep it. »

Seravalli speaks of a “gigantic contract offer”, but indicates that the stake “was not about the money”.

Johnny Gaudreau is 28 years old. He scored 40 goals and had 75 assists last year with the Flames, his best season of his career. In 9 seasons in the NHL, he has 210 goals and 609 points.

“Johnny Hockey” was drafted by Calgary in the fourth round of the 2011 auction.
