Two semiconductor manufacturers – the American GlobalFoundries and the Franco-Italian STMicroelectronics – will build a factory near Grenoble to produce semiconductors, for an estimated investment of 5.7 billion euros, the two companies have announced. and the French government on Monday July 11.

This new plant should create approximately 1,000 additional jobs at the Crolles site, where STMicroelectronics already has a large manufacturing site, and will benefit from “significant financial support from the French State”. The semiconductors produced there will notably serve end markets “such as automotive, industrial, internet of things and communication infrastructure”according to the two companies.
