Victoriaville | A man injures five people with his pellet gun

(Victoriaville) A man will face justice after firing a pellet gun at people he met on Saturday night in Victoriaville, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

The man known to police circles was arrested around 10:30 p.m., after a call to emergency services about an armed attack on Notre-Dame Street East.

“Initial reports indicated a 36-year-old man was wandering the area while discharging lead projectiles. According to witnesses, he was holding an object that could be related to a pistol. He also allegedly threatened people in his path,” said information officer Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Five people were injured, but these are minor injuries.

As for the suspect, he was quickly arrested and is being held pending his appearance on Monday.

“The suspect could face charges of assault with a weapon and threats. As for the object, it has been seized and will be sent for expertise,” added Mr. Scholtus.
