The Tour de France 2022 started on Friday 1er July, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The country hopes to benefit from the event.
On the afternoon of Friday July 1, the 109th edition of the Tour de France set off from Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the first time that the Tour de France has started in the country. On this occasion, tens of thousands of Danes were present in the streets of Copenhagen to see the cyclists. Here too, the Grande Boucle is an institution. “It’s a great day for the Danes”rejoices a resident.
Images of Copenhagen during the Tour de France are broadcast in 190 countries around the world. This is also why Denmark spent six million euros, twice as much as Brittany last year. The country does its advertising, and the crown prince, Frederik of Denmark, does not hide his pride. “It will attract tourism for us in the years to come”, he rejoices. The first time the Tour de France set off abroad was in 1954 from Amsterdam (Netherlands). Since then, the Tour has started abroad 24 times.
