Social networks abound with images showing lobsters in cages, in the hands of fishermen, in the pans of aficionados and in divine dishes by chefs from here and elsewhere. Here are the best places to enjoy this crustacean before the season ends.
Montreal
Lobster shack umbrella
Located in an alley on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Parasol is right behind its sister restaurant, Beau Temps. This wine bar offers delicious Maine (clarified butter) or Quebec (mayonnaise, celery, fresh herbs) lobster rolls. It is only possible to place your order online or to take the dishes to take away. And that makes Parasol the perfect picnic partner!
At Delmo’s
This Old Montreal institution, opened in 1934, offers classic lobster dishes, such as lobster Thermidor (white sauce with tarragon, au gratin), Bellevue (poached, cold) and Newburg (white sauce, sherry, paprika ). During the summer season, Chez Delmo’s street truck, the Delmobile, crisscrosses the streets of downtown to offer fish and seafood dishes to eat on the go.
Express Sorting
Beyond rolls, poached or grilled whole lobster, lobster tartare and seasonal maki à la Tri from the Tri Express restaurant are also excellent ways to taste this coveted crustacean. The maki in question is garnished with a crushed lobster and kanikama (surimi), mango, mushroom, caviar, tempura and the famous Tri Express sauce, all wrapped in a cucumber leaf.
Quebec
The Gaspesian 51
La Gaspésienne 51 restaurant has the advantage of being located next to its own fishmonger’s—Les Pêcheries Raymond Desbois—, which showcases Gaspé products. In addition to the fisherman’s plate, which includes a whole lobster, they also offer Wellington surf’n’turf, as well as daily specials featuring lobster and other Captain Desbois catches.
Sherbrooke
Pizzicato
The Sherbrooke pizzeria Pizzicato is also known for its delicious fresh homemade pasta. New this year: lobster ravioli. The happiness in all this is that they are also available at the restaurant’s grocery store, where you can find fresh pasta, sauces, pizzas and even desserts.
Havre-Saint-Pierre
At Julie’s
The right place to eat abundant seafood on the North Shore is Chez Julie! Known for its essential seafood pizzas and its generous fisherman’s dinner, we love its Special Julie lobster club sandwich with egg, cheese and onions. Happiness is only real when shared, right? And Chez Julie, sharing is strongly encouraged!
St. Flavie
Captain Lobster
For more than 50 years, Capitaine Homard has been a must stop during a getaway on Route 132. In addition to enjoying a lobster menu in all its forms — whole, club sandwich, poutine, roll, or au gratin — you can taste these good dishes with a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River. That really smells like vacation!

The fisherman’s house
There’s nothing quite like eating Gaspésie lobster in Gaspésie. The Fisherman’s House in Percé is certainly worth a detour. Formerly a youth hostel, it was converted into a restaurant in 1985 by Georges Mamelonet, a Frenchman who loved Gaspésie. His son, Christophe, now chef at La Maison du Pêcheur, serves the lobster as an arancini, as a pizza, whole with garlic butter or with seaweed and maple syrup.
