This Saturday afternoon, a major fire broke out in Sandillon in Loiret. Around 4 p.m. and under nearly 39 degrees, a high voltage cable (20,000 volts) broke in the heat, before you fell into a wheat field. Sparks then ignited the straw, and charred 40 hectares of wheat.
- Homes under threat
The Loiret firefighters secured about twenty houses threatened by the flames. The fire was sometimes so close that fir hedges burned near homes. No homes had to be evacuated.
- A busy Saturday for firefighters
On Saturday alone, three cables broke under the effect of the heat, according to the firefighters contacted by France Bleu Orléans. Several fire outbreaks took place in the east of the department. Shade and rehydration medical support was made available to the firefighters.
