The whole tennis world was anticipating Eugenie Bouchard’s return to the game. Especially since the Quebecer had received an invitation from the organizers of the Wimbledon tournament to participate in the tournament. She has, however, announced that she will not be in London due to the new clocking rule.

A few weeks ago, the tournament organizers decided not to accept the participation of Russian and Belarusian players. Thus, the ATP and the WTA reacted by stipulating that no points were going to be granted to the players during the third major tournament of the season, a question of being fair for all.
So players won’t see any change to their position in the world rankings, either in defeat or in victory.
Eugenie Bouchard has stayed away from the tennis courts for the past few months. She played her last tournament in March 2021, in Mexico. The 28-year-old athlete doesn’t even have a world ranking anymore. This is why she has a limited number of protected entries in tournaments, to try to move up the rankings.
In a post on Twitter on Friday afternoon, she explains that she doesn’t want to waste those protected entries in a tournament that doesn’t even offer points. “It doesn’t make sense,” she says. She prefers to play tournaments that will provide a return over the next few weeks.
She notably indicated that she would play the United States Open at the end of the summer and the Australian Open in January.
Recall that the finalist of the tournament in 2014 had surgery on her right shoulder about a year ago.
