The current heat wave is also forcing schools to find solutions. Many parents are worried about their children because schools are not equipped to deal with high temperatures. So how do we protect the youngest? Report in Lyon.
From this Thursday, June 16 in the morning, the rays of the sun began to heat the playground of a school located in Lyon (Rhone). So the director watered the floor to gain some freshness. “The breaks are shorter, no activities, no bikes, to prevent them from getting tired“, explains Roselyne Louise Touitouprincipal of the school. 34°C are expected this afternoon.
A teacher takes advantage of the outdoors with her students when the temperatures are still bearable. “We take advantage of the freshness. Children can run, let off steam, play. That way, they are calm and when we go back to class, the class is cool and the playground starts to heat up.r”, explains Eva Joy Loved, teacher. The children themselves are sensitive to the issue, water bottle in hand and hats on their heads. Vigilance is reinforced on children’s fatigue.
