On June 13 in London, hundreds of people demonstrated against the controversial plan of Boris Johnson’s government, which consists of sending asylum seekers who have entered the country illegally to Rwanda.
“It’s a shame for our country that people who fled the war in Iraq, and in so many other countries, are sleeping outside and starving in the streets of our cities. What happened to our humanity?”
In the United Kingdom, the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that it wants to send asylum seekers who have entered the country illegally to Rwanda.
“They say it will stop the smugglers. But this agreement with Rwanda is really inhuman”, explains Sarah Berry, Operations Coordinator in Calais.
“What they’re proposing now is to send severely traumatized people, who’ve lost family members, who’ve been through things you can’t even imagine, on a plane to another country, while stay there and wash their hands of it.”
