It is a long process of reindustrialization that is emerging in Hérimoncourt. Just two years after the closure of the engine and parts recycling plant, the Welp group has just signed on May 9 to the acquisition of a small third of this former PSA site in Hérimoncourt. 14,000 square meters precisely on a total footprint of 47,000 m2.
After the compromise, the sale must take place before the summer. Specializing in vehicle armor, Welp plans toset up a civilian vehicle armor business there. Even before the final signature, the request for work to adapt the buildings was submitted to the town hall of Hérimoncourt. “This is a first step towards new activities for our old factory”, welcomes Marie-France BOttarlini, the mayor of Hérimoncourt.
The German group is signing its first establishment in France. A dozen or so jobs should be created by the end of the year. A hundred eventually, by 2025. The company which works with the European order services has recently been referenced for public procurement in France. The delivery to the Elysée of an armored DS7 crossback by Welp last November was decisive.
Welp is also working on theluxury car interior design, like the Bugatti brand headquartered in Molsheim in the Bs-Rhin. Seats could be manufactured with the help of the leather sector, very present in the Pays de Montbéliard.
This implantation is theculmination of a long process of approach around state services, elected officials and the Stellantis group to restore a future to the old factory. Other activities were promised at this Hérimoncourt site. So far, Welp is the only lead to emerge.
The Welp group announces that it will detail the complete project for this establishment in Hérimoncourt during the Eurosatory exhibition, the world defense and security fair, in mid-June at the Villepinte exhibition center near Paris.
