Listen to our show “season review”, with Olivier Delcourt and Fred Sammaritano
What to remember from the interview with President Delcourt
On the future coach
Olivier Delcourt: “There is a list of coaches, about ten, who are received by Emmanuel Desplats (general manager) and Gérard Bonneau (recruitment director). At the end, they will give me an assessment, with the positive assets, negatives. We will choose two or three coaches, whom I will meet. And in the end, we will choose the future coach of the DFCO. For me, the priority is to have a good pair, with a coach and an assistant, but different “, complementary. May they bring new momentum to this group which is a quality group. I hope to have the coach at the latest at the end of the first week of June.”
Olivier Delcourt on the name of the future coach: Frédéric Bompard (ex-assistant at DFCO and ex-coach at Guingamp)?. “I met him, but there are between eight and nine others”. Jean-Marc Furlan (AJA coach)? “Not Met”. David Guion (Bordeaux coach) : “I interviewed him. (last summer, when he was looking for a replacement for David Linarès), the next day in the press it appeared that he had refused the club … but I had not chosen him either. So he won’t come to Dijon, that’s for sure.”. “We see all types of coaches, young, experienced and even foreigners. That way, we have a complete panel for the choice”.
On the transfer window
A meeting is taking place this Tuesday, May 17 at the DFCO, “for the workforce for next season, and there will already be decisions made”says Olivier Delcourt.
- Romain Philippoteaux (loaned this season, without purchase option, part Brest): “For the moment there are no discussions. He returns to Brest, then we will see. Even if it means recruiting players, we might as well see with the new coach”.
- Ahmad Ngouyamsa and Wilitty Younoussa (both are out of contract). “There are very advanced discussions with them for an extension. We have to decide this Tuesday, but it’s off to a good start, Tuesday or in the days to come”. Why is it late? “These are discussions, it’s not just the players, there are also the agents. We have to find common ground with the agents. In any case, the players have the will to continue the adventure with club, and so are we”.
- Amir Arli terminated his contract with the club: “He left, three weeks ago already. He wanted to leave before the end of the season. I don’t know for what destination. There are always regrets to see young people leave, after that we are not going to keep them if they don’t play.
- The return of players loaned by the DFCO (Assalé, Ndong, Chouiar, Benzia, Konaté, Celina)? : “I don’t necessarily want to, I don’t want to see them all again, maybe one or two if necessary… but the rest is not worth it. We don’t need mercenaries at DFCO”. Assale and Celina? “To see. I hope everyone will find clubs”.
On the goals
Olivier Delcourt: “The goal will be to finish in the top two. The goal is to move up next season. I said three years, but you always have to aim for the highest to try to reach it. If you aim the middle… We really have to finish 1st or 2nd. We have to be ambitious, we have a strong group, seasoned in Ligue 2, so there’s no reason we can’t do it Whether we announce that or the maintenance or something else, criticism is easy, in any case for having met all the players at the end of the season, they are ambitious and revengeful compared to this season.
