Friday, May 13, the Paris prosecutor’s office decided to open a judicial investigation concerning the Buitoni case. Following the preliminary investigation and the death of two children, the hygiene conditions are called into question.

The Buitoni factory in Caudry (Nord) is still closed on Friday May 13, following a prefectural order. Many shortcomings were found. Pinned for a risk of salmonella proliferation, rodents had also been discovered as well as a lack of cleaning of the various work spaces. Following such elements, the parents of the victims are demanding that the sale of Buitoni brand products be stopped.

An investigation for homicides and involuntary injuries, endangering the lives of others and deception on the goods will be carried out under the direction of an investigating judge. The opening of this judicial information will allow the various civil parties in the case to be able to consult the documents in the file. They hope to obtain information on the production chain and an explanation of these food poisonings. For now, only the “Fraichup” range is affected, although other complaints have been filed against other items of the brand.
