Bad news fell this Friday, May 6. Mike Hagerty, actor known for his roles in particular in the series Friends or the movie Overboard died at the age of 67 on April 29. “With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A beloved character actor, his love for his hometown of Chicago and his family have been the cornerstones of his life”, the statement said. The causes of his death have not yet been revealed. Bridget Everett, her co-star in comedy Somebody Somewhere broadcast on HBOwas one of the first to pay tribute to him. “I loved Mike from the moment I met him”wrote the 50-year-old American actress. “He was so special. Warm, funny (…) We are devastated that he passed away. He will be greatly missed.”
Mike Hagerty was known for his recurring role as Mr. Treeger on the show Friends. Fans are bound to remember the memorable fourth season 4 episode: “The One with the Ballroom Dancing” in which Joey (Matt LeBlanc) reluctantly agreed to be the building superintendent’s dance partner after threatened to have Monica (Courteney Cox) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) deported.
He was also seen in The George Carlin Show, Lucky Louie, Boston Legal, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Cheers, Community, CSI, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, ER, Ghost Whisperer, Glee, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, Happy Endings, Medium, The Mindy Project, Mob City, Monk, Seinfeld, Shameless, The Wayans Bros. or Wonder Years. Mike Hagerty is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife Kathleen O’Rourke and their daughter Meg.
