In the cast of Koh-Lanta, The Cursed Totem viewers found Anne-Sophie, wife of footballer Anthony Mounier, Stéphanie the croupier, Yannick the basketball player, Olga the Crazy Horse dancer and even Jean-Charles, fustier by trade. This 40-year-old adventurer presents himself as close to nature and concerned about the environment. This is what weighed in this choice of profession, since he builds logs and more precisely wooden structures on a daily basis. But he had another life before…
Jean-Charles was not always a fustier. Many years ago, he was headed for a completely different career. He thus studied law, accumulating diplomas and even going so far as to prepare a thesis. The 40-year-old was then a lawyer. But this daily life does not suit him. And it was during a trip to Berlin that he had the click: what he wanted deep inside him was to live in the countryside and build his house. In Germany, he is undergoing training with the aim of changing his life. On the other side of the border, retraining is facilitated, as he explains to the site of The rise.
Ready to take a new turn, Jean-Charles returns to France. With his CAP as a carpenter in his pocket, he founded his company called Toutenrondins. “As soon as I started working outside, it was no longer possible for me to imagine myself in an office.“, he confides. But the path has not been easy. “You have to start from scratch, if I had had children, I’m not sure I would have done it, he admits. It’s disturbing to feel like you’re out of control, and being managed by younger people can be hard on your ego and self-confidence.“Today, he has no regrets about his choice.”I don’t feel like I’m working and I live with the seasons“, he enthuses.
And then, above all, his know-how as a fustier has enabled him to carve out a place of choice in Koh Lanta. Indeed, from the start of the game, it was coveted by the team leaders in order to play the handyman during the assembly of the cabin in particular. It remains to be seen how far he will go in the adventure! To be continued…
