By 10:15 p.m., that total had dropped to just over 80,000 homes.

The most affected regions are Montreal, the Laurentians, Montérégie, Lanaudière and Outaouais.

Hydro-Québec indicated on Twitter that its teams are mobilized on the ground to restore power.

In the Laurentians, 20,378 customers no longer have access to electricity. In Lanaudière, there are 9,971 clients.

In Montreal, 11,881 residents were still affected by the outage.

The winds, which blew up to 89 km/h in Montreal around 6 p.m. according to Environment Canada, caused several equipment failures.

“The strong winds should calm down by 9 p.m., allowing us to take note of the damage and plan the rest of the work. Our teams will continue their work during the night,” Hydro-Québec said in a tweet on Friday evening.

The state corporation invites its customers to follow the status of the situation on its Info-pannes website.
