(Montreal) More than 110,000 customers are without electricity in Quebec, Friday evening, due to strong winds.
Posted at 8:51 p.m.
The most affected regions are Montreal, the Laurentians, Montérégie, Lanaudière and Outaouais.
Hydro-Québec indicated on Twitter that its teams are mobilized on the ground to restore power.
In the Laurentians, 6% of residents, or 22,260 customers, no longer have access to electricity. In Lanaudière, it is nearly 5% of clients.
In Montreal, 30,852 residents were still affected by the outage around 9 p.m.
The winds, which blew up to 89 km/h in Montreal around 6 p.m. according to Environment Canada, caused several equipment failures.
“The strong winds should calm down by 9 p.m., allowing us to take note of the damage and plan the rest of the work. Our teams will continue their work during the night,” Hydro-Québec said in a tweet on Friday evening.
The state corporation invites its customers to follow the status of the situation on its Info-pannes website.
