(OTTAWA) The Ontario Superior Court has begun hearing arguments over the release on bail of Pat King, one of the organizers of the truck convoy that paralyzed Ottawa.

Mr. King’s lawyers have requested a review of the trial court’s decision to keep their client in custody until his trial.
The accused was a key player in the protest, which became a three-week siege, against health measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the federal government. Protesters invaded the heart of Ottawa at the end of January, blocking streets and sounding their horns at all hours of the day and night.
On February 25, the court refused to release Mr. King.
Details of these new developments in the proceedings are subject to a publication ban and may not be released outside of court so as not to harm the eventual trial.
Pat King appeared freshly shaven, dressed in jeans, a gray woolen shirt and a beige jacket with his hair tied back.
These hearings are scheduled to last two days.
