If we talk about the sacred monsters of the Basque Country, without a doubt, Benito Lertxundi is one of them!
Born in Orio, Gipuzkoa, Benito Lertxundi became interested in music and poetry at a very young age and began writing his first songs before he was 20 years old.
It was thanks to a singing competition that he launched his career, and he has always sung in the Basque language.
His folk style is delicate, with very elaborate musical arrangements.
Benito Lertxundi sang old Basque texts, notably souletin, or bertso d’Orio, and poems by his favorite authors, Xalbador or Pessoa.
