The trial of Carl Girouard, accused of killing François Duchesne and Suzanne Clermont in addition to five attempted murders of citizens of Old Quebec on Halloween night 2020, begins this morning with the making of the jury.

A few dozen people were called to the courthouse on Monday morning ahead of the first stage of a trial that is expected to last four weeks. A dozen jurors will then be selected to judge the guilt or not of Carl Girouard, the one who is accused of having sown horror in Quebec on October 31, 2020.

Halloween night
Disguised as a samurai, the 26-year-old man parked his car not far from the Château Frontenac before attacking his victims with a sword. Two victims died, François Duchesne, 56, and Suzanne Clermont, 61, for whom the accused faces two charges of first degree murder. Five other people were injured, leading to charges of attempted murder.
This is the DPCP prosecutor, Mr.and François Godin who will be responsible for presenting the evidence after the selection of the jury. Criminal lawyer Pierre Gagnon represents the accused from Sainte-Thérèse.
Superior Court Judge Richard Grenier will preside over the court.
