Dominique has worked all her life and receives only 800 euros in retirement per month. So at 68, this former butcher had to go back to work to be able to get by. She tells.
“What do you do with 800 euros? Can you pay the rent? Electricity? The mutuals? Eat ? It would be nice if I could live my retirement properly and everything, yes. But there, well, since it’s not possible, I get to work.”
In Mende, in Lozère, since July 2021, six months after the start of his retirement, Dominique has returned to work, at the age of 68, to supplement his pension of 800 euros per month. “I got used to it and then there you go, you learn at any age. We learn at any age to do a job“, she believes.
In France, there is no age limit for working. The employment-retirement system makes it possible to combine the retirement pension and a salary.
